How these tools work
- Free and no sign up: there is no account, no email gate and no trial.
- In your browser: what you type, paste or drop is processed on your own device and is not sent to our servers or stored. The one exception is the codebase calculator, where your browser asks GitHub directly for a public repository's details.
- Formulas on the page: every calculator states its arithmetic, and every starting figure is either cited or labelled as an assumption for you to replace.
- No invented market data: we don't publish prices or commission rates from deals, so the calculators never pretend to know what your data is worth.
The generators produce plain-English drafts written by us. They are starting points to take to a lawyer, not legal advice, and every document says so.
What they don't do
None of the tools can tell you whether you have the right to sell a dataset, which is the question that ends more data deals than price does. They also can't replace a valuation report, a privacy review or a lawyer. They are for getting to a sensible first draft and a defensible range quickly, so the expensive advice is spent on the parts that need it.
Questions people ask
Are the tools really free?
Yes. All of them work without an account or payment. The paid course and app are separate and optional.
Do you store what I enter?
No. The tools run in your browser and send nothing to our servers. Download or copy your results before closing the tab.
Can I use the documents commercially?
Yes. Use and change them as you like, but have a lawyer review them for your deal first: they are not legal advice.
Why do the calculators ask for my own figures?
Because there is no reliable public price list for data. Your own costs and quotes are better inputs than any average we could invent.
